Basic Prayers
The Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name: Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread: and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation: but deliver us from evil. Amen.
The Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace; the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Indulgenced Ejaculation (Glory Be)
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
All ye holy angels and saints of God, pray for me!
The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell, the third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come again to judge the living and the dead., and His kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father, Through Him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation He came down from heaven: (bow) by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord. The Giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy Catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

V. The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary . . .
R. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary . . . .
V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord,
R. Be it done unto me according to your word. Hail Mary . . .
V. And the Word was made flesh,
R. And dwelt among us. Hail Mary . . . .
V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God,
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray. Pour forth, we beg you O Lord, your grace into our hearts; that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ your Son was made known by the message of an angel may by his passion and cross be brought to the glory of his resurrection. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
Regina Coeli
(Recited three times daily during Paschal Season)
Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia:
For He whom you merited to bear, alleluia,
Has risen, as He said, alleluia.
Pray to us to God, alleluia
Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia.
Because the Lord is truly risen, alleluia.
Let us pray. O God, who by the resurrection of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, granted joy to the world, grant, we beg you, that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, his Mother, we may lay hold of the joys of eternal life. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen. (Roman Breviary.)
Salve Regina (Hail, Holy Queen)
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy; hail our life, our sweetness and our hope. To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us. And after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. - (Roman Breviary)
Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my mother: to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
Grace before Meals
In the Name. . .
Bless us O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty through Christ our Lord. Amen. (Our Father. . .)
Grace after Meals
We give Thee thanks, O Lord, for all Thy gifts which we have received from Thy bounty through Christ our Lord. Amen. (Hail Mary . . .)
An Act of Faith
O my God! I firmly believe that Thou art one God in three divine Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; I believe that the Divine Son became man, and died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the holy Catholic Church teaches, because Thou hast revealed them, who canst neither deceive nor be deceived.
An Act of Hope
O my God! Relying on Thy infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Thy grace and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.
An Act of Charity
O my God! I love Thee above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because Thou art all good and worthy of all love. I love my neighbor as myself for love of Thee.
An Act of Contrition
O my God! I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend Thee my God, Who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.
Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of Battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell, Satan and all the other evil spirits, who prowl through the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen
My Morning Prayer
I come before You, Lord, In the newness of this day
To ask Your grace upon me, Your love to guide my way.
May I face this day with strength, A gift from You above,
And may I show to others The mercies of your love.
May I don my Christian faith Best to wear at its best,
So when temptations come to taunt I'm ready for their test.
Then when at last it's evening And I come again in prayer
May I not forget to thank You For this tender, loving care.
By Mary Leonard
In the Morning
O God, as I rise from rest, I realize that Your love takes no rest, for creation continues under Your watchful care unceasingly. Your love and care embrace me always, day and night, whether I am sleeping, working, eating, relaxing. You are with me always. Help me to be alert to Your presence in each moment. I dedicate this day to You. May I fill it with loving responses. Amen. Sr. Ruth Marlene Fox, O.S.B.
An Evening Prayer
Grant O Dearest Jesus, that I may repose upon Thy breast, and draw sweetness with every breath from Thy affectionate Heart.
Let Thy loving Spirit penetrate my soul, and absorb it and unite it inseparably to Thyself. Remain with me, I beseech Thee, through the night, that whilst my body sleeps, my spirit may wake to Thee, and see Thee always near me.
God my Creator, look upon me in Thy mercy, and so rule my slumbers, that my heart may rest calmly in Thy love as in its all-absorbing sleep; and grant that I may repose in Thee this night and for all eternity. Amen.
A Prayer of Thanks
Lord Jesus, we give you heartfelt thanks for all the benefits you have bestowed, and do unceasingly bestow, upon all those gathered around this table today.
May Your blessing descend upon each dear one and remain with them forever. Amen. The Maryknoll Sisters
Prayers of Thanksgiving
Lord, thank you for all you have given me. Forgive me when I fail to tell you that. You give so many blessings in so many ways that I sometimes forget from where it all comes. So I thank you, especially for the times when I do stop, for the times when you gently nudge me to my knees. Amen. (Steve Givens)
Act of Thanksgiving
O my God, I thank you for all the favors You have bestowed upon me. I give you thanks from the bottom of my heart for having created me, and for all the joys of life, and its sorrows, too, for the home you gave me, for the loved ones with which You have surrounded me, for the friends I have made through life.
O My Lord, I thank You for guarding me always and keeping me safe; I thank you for giving me so often in the sacrament of Penance forgiveness for my sins; for offering Yourself in Holy Mass with all Your infinite merits to the Father for me; for comingto me in Holy Communion, in spite of the coldness of my welcome; for the patient waiting in the adorable sacrament of the altar.
My Jesus I thank you for having lived, suffered and died for me. I thank You for Your love. I thank You Lord, for preparing a place for me in heaven where I hope to be happy with You for all eternity. Amen.
