A Prayer in Sickness

Grant, O Lord, that I may recognize Your graces and cooperate with them;
that I may make Your will my own and gladly acquiesce in it;
that I may understand the special purpose of my sickness;
that I may courageously carry the cross that You have placed upon my shoulders;
that I may never lose my temper, but always preserve my joy;,
that my confidence in You may never diminish;
that my faith may become deeper, my hope stronger, and my love more perfect;
that I may seek inner consolation;
that I may listen to Your inspirations and meditate on them all the days of my life;
that I may avoid sin and resist temptation;
that I may miss no opportunity of doing good;
that I may give a good example to others;
that I may always be ready to follow Your calling;
that my desire for eternal life may increase;
that I may persevere to the end;
that one day I may see You face to face;
that Your holy name may be glorified in everything. Amen.
